How to remove metadata from a PDF online

About this tool

Every PDF carries a set of document properties that most people never see: a title, an author name, the subject, keywords, the program that produced it, and the dates it was created and last changed. These fields are filled in automatically by the software that made the file, and they travel with it when you send it on. This tool reads those properties, shows them to you in plain rows, and then removes them.

Drop a PDF and the current values appear in a "Currently in this file" card, with "Not set" shown for any field that is empty. The default action strips everything: all eight fields are emptied and the embedded metadata record is dropped, so a reader opening document properties sees nothing. If you would rather keep some fields, switch to overwrite mode and type your own title, author, subject, and keywords. Any field you leave blank stays blank, and creator, producer, and both dates are cleared regardless. The visible pages are never touched, so the document reads exactly as before.

This matters most when a file leaves your hands. A contract still carrying the drafter name, a resume tagged with an old author, or a report stamped with an internal tool name all leak more than the sender intended. Clearing the properties closes that gap. Everything happens on your device, so a sensitive file never travels to a server to be cleaned. What metadata does this remove?

Does it change the visible pages?
No. Only the hidden document properties are changed. The text, images, layout, and page count stay exactly as they were, so the document looks identical after cleaning.
Is my PDF uploaded anywhere?

Can I clean several PDFs at once?

Why can I still see dates in some readers?
Some viewers show the file system date rather than the metadata date. This tool clears the dates stored inside the PDF; the timestamp your operating system records when the file is saved is separate and outside any PDF.
