AI Metadata Remover
AI metadata is the set of labels a generator writes into an image file: Content Credentials that record AI use, an AI source label, the tool name, and often the full prompt. Removing it cuts those labels out of the file without re-saving the picture.
How to remove AI metadata from an image
Add your images
Drop JPG, PNG, or WebP files onto the tool, click to browse, or paste from the clipboard. Several files can go in at once.
Check what was removed
Each file is cleaned straight away, and its row lists what came out in plain words, such as Content Credentials or prompt text.
Download the cleaned files
Save one file, or download the whole batch as a single ZIP. File names stay the same.
Why use this tool
Only the AI labels go
Content Credentials that record AI use, AI source labels, generator names, saved prompts, and generation settings are removed. Titles, ratings, copyright, and camera-signed Content Credentials with no AI label are kept.
Camera details kept
Camera make and model, date taken, exposure settings, lens, and GPS location are left exactly as they were. Use a full metadata remover if you want those gone too.
The picture is not re-saved
Labels are cut out of the file structure, so the image data is byte for byte the same and there is no quality loss.
Checked after cleaning
Every cleaned file is read again. If any AI label is still found, the row says so and no file is offered.
Files stay on your device
Everything runs in your browser. Images are never uploaded, and nothing needs to download first.
About this tool
Image generators and AI editing tools write labels into the files they produce. ChatGPT, Adobe Firefly, and Microsoft attach Content Credentials, a signed record naming the tool. Google, Meta, and Midjourney add an AI source label. Stable Diffusion tools such as Automatic1111, ComfyUI, and InvokeAI save the full prompt and settings. Those labels can reveal more than expected: prompts often contain names, places, or private notes, and the tool names show which accounts and services you use.
This tool removes those labels and nothing else. Content Credentials that record AI generation or AI editing are cut out whole, as are prompt text chunks, and AI fields inside shared metadata blocks are blanked in place, so the camera make, model, date taken, exposure settings, and GPS location stay put. Content Credentials with no AI label, such as those signed by a camera or a news organisation, are proof that a photo is authentic, so they are left in place. The picture itself is never re-saved, so there is no quality loss and the pixels are identical. Each cleaned file is checked again before it is offered.
Some labels cannot be removed this way. Invisible watermarks such as Google SynthID are part of the pixels, not the metadata, and stay in the image. HEIC photos need converting first with HEIC to JPG. To check a file before or after cleaning, use the AI metadata detector. To remove every kind of hidden data, including camera details and location, use the EXIF remover or the metadata stripper.
Frequently asked questions
- What does it remove?
- Content Credentials that record AI use, the AI source label, generator names in the software, credit, and author fields, saved prompts and settings, and comments holding prompt text. Credentials with no AI label, such as camera signatures, are kept.
- Are camera details and location kept?
- Yes. Camera make and model, date taken, exposure settings, lens, and GPS location are not touched. To remove those as well, use the EXIF remover or the metadata stripper.
- Does it remove invisible AI watermarks?
- No. Watermarks such as Google SynthID are hidden in the pixels themselves, and this tool never changes pixels. It only removes labels stored as metadata.
- Are my images uploaded?
- No. Every file is read and cleaned in your browser and never leaves your device.
- Which files are supported?
- JPG, PNG, and WebP. HEIC photos can be converted with HEIC to JPG first. Files with no AI labels are left unchanged and say so.
- Does cleaning lower the image quality?
- No. The image is not re-saved or re-compressed. Only the label blocks are cut out, so the picture data is identical to the original.
