How to remove emojis from text

  1. Paste your text

Drop the text that contains emoji into the input and the cleaned version appears immediately below.

  2. Choose how to strip them

Delete emoji outright or replace each one with a single space, and turn on other symbols if you want those gone too.

  3. Copy the result

Use Copy text to grab the cleaned version and paste it wherever you need plain, emoji-free text.

Why use this tool

Whole-sequence removal

Joined emoji like a family or a flag are removed as one unit, so no half characters, skin-tone modifiers, or joiners are left stranded in the text.

Keeps real content

Letters, numbers, and ordinary punctuation are preserved. Only emoji, pictographs, and, if you ask, other sign characters are taken out.

Delete or replace with space

Delete emoji outright, or swap each one for a single space so words on either side do not run together, with extra spaces collapsed.

Optional symbol stripping

A toggle also removes currency, math, and other symbol characters that sit beyond the emoji range, for text that needs to be strictly plain.

Removed count

A live readout shows how many characters were taken out, so you can confirm the tool caught what you expected.

Runs entirely in your browser

Everything happens on your device. The text you paste is never uploaded or stored anywhere.

About this tool

This tool strips emoji, pictographs, and symbol characters out of text while leaving the words intact. It recognises the full range of emoji, including sequences that join several characters together, such as flags, professions, and family groups, and removes each one as a single unit. That matters because a naive find and replace often deletes the visible emoji but leaves behind invisible joiners and skin-tone modifiers, which then show up as stray boxes later. Here the whole cluster goes at once.

Paste your text and the cleaned version appears instantly. Choose Delete to remove emoji outright, or Replace with space to swap each one for a single space, which keeps words from colliding when an emoji sat between them; runs of spaces are then collapsed and the ends trimmed. A separate toggle extends the cleanup to other symbol characters, such as currency and math signs, for when you need text that is strictly letters, numbers, and punctuation. A live count tells you how many characters were removed.

It pairs well with the rest of the text cleanup set. Use Remove Line Breaks to flatten text into one paragraph, Case Converter to fix inconsistent capitalisation, and Word Counter to check the length once the emoji are gone. Everything runs in your browser, so nothing you paste is uploaded, which is worth knowing when the text is a private message or an unpublished draft.

Frequently asked questions

Does it remove emoji that are made of several characters?
Yes. Joined sequences such as flags, professions, and family groups are treated as one emoji and removed whole, so no joiners, variation selectors, or skin-tone modifiers are left behind to show up as stray boxes.
Will it delete my normal text?
No. Letters, numbers, and ordinary punctuation are always kept. Only emoji and pictographs are removed by default, and other symbols such as currency and math signs are removed only if you turn that toggle on.
What is the difference between delete and replace with space?
Delete removes each emoji and closes the gap. Replace with space swaps each emoji for a single space, which stops words on either side from running together, then collapses any runs of spaces and trims the ends.
Is my text uploaded anywhere?
No. Everything runs in your browser and the text never leaves your device, which matters when it is a private message or an unpublished draft.
Is there a limit on how much text I can clean?
No fixed limit. Processing happens in your browser tab, so large pastes are bounded by your device memory rather than an upload cap, and the output area scrolls instead of stretching the page.
