About this tool

The leetspeak converter swaps letters for visually similar numbers and symbols at three increasing levels of intensity. Basic covers the handful of substitutions most people recognise instantly: a becomes 4, e becomes 3, i becomes 1, o becomes 0, and t becomes 7. Medium builds on that with more single-letter swaps and the classic "ck" to "x" digraph, so a word ending in "ck" gets replaced as a pair rather than as two separate letters. Hardcore goes further still, replacing nearly every remaining letter with a symbol or short sequence of symbols for a much denser, harder-to-read result.

Because each level is a superset of the one before it, stepping the intensity up from Basic to Hardcore never removes a substitution you were already relying on, it only adds more on top. Only letters are ever touched: spaces, punctuation, digits that were already part of your text, and line breaks pass straight through untouched, so the shape and structure of the original text stays intact.

Decode reverses the process, checking for every symbol used across all three levels at once so it can handle leetspeak that mixes intensities or was written by hand rather than generated here.
