About this tool
The letter frequency counter tallies every character in pasted text and ranks them from most to least common, which is useful for checking writing style, studying cipher puzzles, or just seeing which letters carry a piece of text. By default it counts letters only, folding uppercase and lowercase together so "E" and "e" add to the same total, and it leaves spaces and punctuation out of the tally so common characters like the space bar do not dominate the table.
Four toggles adjust exactly what gets counted. Case-insensitive, on by default, merges letter case; turn it off to see "A" and "a" as separate rows. Include digits adds 0 through 9 to the table as their own entries. Include other characters brings in everything that is not a letter, a digit, a space, or a punctuation mark, which covers symbols and other marks. Ignore spaces and punctuation, also on by default, keeps those characters out of the count entirely; turning it off adds them back in as their own rows, labelled clearly so a space in the table reads as "(space)" rather than a blank line.
Each row shows a proportional bar alongside its count and percentage, so the shape of the distribution is visible at a glance rather than buried in a column of numbers. A summary above the table gives the total characters counted, the number of unique characters, and the most and least common of them. For a broader look at the same text, word frequency ranks whole words instead of single characters, and the readability checker scores the writing itself. Everything runs in browser memory, so pasted text never leaves the page.

- Is there a limit on how much text I can paste?
- There is no hard limit. It comfortably handles long documents, though a very large paste may take a brief moment to process.
