Pomodoro Timer
Run focus and break sessions with a big countdown, saved lengths, optional auto-start, and an alert when each block ends.
0 of 4 focus sessions done in this cycle. Ready.
Classic Pomodoro is 25, 5, and 15 minutes with a long break every 4 sessions.
Runs entirely in your browser. Nothing is uploaded; your session lengths, preferences, and current block are saved on this device so they are here when you come back. For a one-off timer instead, try the countdown timer.
How to use a Pomodoro timer online
Set your lengths
Pick your focus, short break, and long break lengths, or keep the classic 25, 5, and 15 minute defaults.
Start the timer
Press Start and work until the focus block ends and the timer moves you into a break.
Repeat the cycle
Let it roll through focus and break blocks automatically, or turn off auto-start to pause between blocks, with a longer break after every fourth focus session.
Why use this tool
Auto-advancing focus and break cycle
The timer rolls from a focus block into a break and back, with a longer break after every fourth focus session. Turn off auto-start to pause between blocks.
Custom session lengths
Set focus, short break, and long break to any length in minutes, and choose how often the long break lands.
Saved settings and session
Your lengths, long break interval, and alert and auto-start choices are saved on this device, and an in-progress block is restored when you reopen the tab.
Stays accurate in a background tab
The countdown is measured against a target end time, so it stays correct even when the tab sits in the background.
Alert when a block ends
A short chime and an optional desktop notification tell you when focus or a break is over, if you allow it.
Countdown in the tab title
The remaining time shows in the browser tab, so you can track it without switching back to this page.
Runs entirely in your browser
Nothing is uploaded and no account is needed; the timer works on this page alone.
About this tool
The Pomodoro technique is a simple way to structure work time. You pick one task, work on it in a fixed block, then take a short break, and repeat. The classic block is 25 minutes of focus followed by a 5 minute break, with a longer 15 minute break after every fourth focus session. This tool runs that rhythm for you and shows a big countdown for the current block.
Fixed blocks help because they turn an open-ended task into a series of short, finishable stretches. Knowing a break is coming makes it easier to start, and the ticking countdown gently discourages drifting off to something else. The longer break after four sessions gives you a real pause to step away before the next round. If the classic lengths do not suit you, set your own focus, short break, and long break, and change how often the long break arrives. You can also let the timer auto-start each next block, or turn that off so it pauses at every boundary and waits for you to start the next one.
The countdown is measured against a target end time rather than counted down step by step, so it stays accurate even when the tab is in the background or the machine sleeps briefly. When a block ends you get a short chime and, if you allow it, a desktop notification, and the remaining time is mirrored in the browser tab title. Your lengths, alert and auto-start choices, and the block you are on are saved in this browser, so reopening the page picks up where you left off. Everything runs on this page with nothing to install. Frequently asked questions
- What is the Pomodoro technique?
- It is a time-management method where you work in fixed focus blocks separated by short breaks, with a longer break after several blocks. The common setup is 25 minutes of focus and a 5 minute break, with a 15 minute break after every fourth focus session.
- Can I change the focus and break lengths?
- Yes. Set the focus, short break, and long break to any length in minutes, and choose how many focus sessions happen before the long break. Adjust the lengths while the timer is paused, then start.
- Does the timer keep running if I switch tabs?
- Yes. The countdown is measured against the time the current block should end, not counted down step by step, so it stays accurate when this tab is in the background. When you come back, the display and the tab title show the correct remaining time.
- How do the end-of-block alerts work?
- When a block ends the timer plays a short chime and can also show a desktop notification. The notification only appears if you press Enable notifications and allow it in your browser; if you do not, the timer simply changes phase on screen.
- Can the next block start on its own?
- Yes. With auto-start on, each break and focus block begins automatically when the last one ends, so the timer runs the whole cycle hands-free. Turn auto-start off to pause at every boundary and start the next block yourself. Either way you still get the chime and, if allowed, the notification.
- Are my settings and session saved?
- Yes. Your focus and break lengths, long break interval, and alert and auto-start choices are saved in this browser on your own device, along with the block you are on. Reopening the tab restores them, and a running block whose time has not run out keeps counting.
- Is my data sent anywhere?
- No. The timer runs entirely on this page in your browser. There is no account and nothing is uploaded. Your settings and current block are saved in this browser on your own device, not sent anywhere.
