How to randomize a list online

  1. Paste your list

Paste or type your items into the box, one per line by default.

  2. Pick how it splits

Switch to comma or space separated if your list is on a single line.

  3. Shuffle again if you want

Every press of Shuffle again produces a fresh random order from the same items.

  4. Copy the result

Copy the shuffled list to your clipboard in one click.

Why use this tool

Every order is equally likely

The shuffle visits each position once and swaps it with a randomly chosen earlier one, so no item is biased toward the top or bottom of the result.

Splits lists three ways

Handles one item per line, comma separated, and space separated input, so a list copied out of a spreadsheet or a sentence both work.

Deduplicate and number

Optionally drop repeated items before shuffling, and number the output so a draw order is easy to read out loud.

Reshuffle without retyping

Shuffle again reorders the same list, which is useful when you want a second draw or a different pairing.

Nothing leaves your browser

The list is shuffled locally. Names, entries, and anything else you paste are never uploaded.

About this tool

A list randomizer takes items you already have and puts them in a random order. It is the everyday tool for drawing a raffle winner, deciding who presents first, splitting a class into an order of turns, picking a random restaurant from a shortlist, or seeding a bracket without arguing about who got the easy side.

Paste your list and it shuffles immediately. Items are read one per line by default, which matches what you get when you copy a column out of a spreadsheet, and you can switch to comma or space separated when the list is written out on a single line. Blank lines and stray spacing around items are ignored, so a messy paste still produces a clean result. Turning on Remove duplicates drops repeats before the draw, and Number the result prefixes each line so you can read the order straight off the screen.

The order is drawn fresh each time you press Shuffle again, and it also changes whenever you edit the list. Every arrangement is equally likely, which matters if the result decides something people care about. If you want a random number rather than a random order, use the random number generator, and if you want the list in a fixed order instead, the line sorter will alphabetize it. To clean up a list first, remove duplicate lines does exactly that.

Frequently asked questions

Is the shuffle actually random?
Yes. Every possible order of your list is equally likely. The result changes whenever you edit the list or press Shuffle again.
Is my list uploaded anywhere?
No. The shuffle happens in your browser, so names and entries never leave your device and nothing is stored.
Can I paste a list that is all on one line?
Yes. Switch the split setting to comma separated or space separated and the tool will break the line into items for you.
How do I pick a single random winner?
Shuffle the list and take the first item. Numbering the result makes it easy to read the full draw order at the same time.
How long can the list be?
There is no fixed limit. Lists of several thousand items shuffle instantly; very large pastes are capped in height so the page stays scrollable.
