How to convert flow rate units

  1. Enter a value

Type the flow rate you want to convert into the value field.

  2. Pick the source unit

Choose the unit your value is in, such as litres per minute, m³/h, or gallons per minute.

  3. Read every conversion

See the equivalent in all other flow rate units update live as you type.

  4. Copy what you need

Copy a single row or copy all conversions at once with the button below.

Why use this tool

Every unit at once

One value converts to m³/s, L/s, L/min, m³/h, US gallons per minute and hour, and cubic feet per minute simultaneously.

Handles tiny and huge values

From a trickle to industrial throughput, results switch to compact scientific notation when they get too large or small to read.

Adjustable precision

Slide the decimal places from 0 to 8 to match the accuracy your work needs.

Copy one or all

Copy any single conversion or grab the whole list in one tap for pasting into notes or a spec sheet.

Runs entirely on your device

Values are converted locally as you type. Nothing is uploaded or stored.

About this tool

The flow rate converter turns any volumetric flow into every other common unit at the same time. Enter a value, pick its unit, and cubic metres per second, litres per second, litres per minute, cubic metres per hour, US gallons per minute, US gallons per hour, and cubic feet per minute all appear together. Volumetric flow is the volume of fluid passing a point per unit of time.

Every unit is defined relative to cubic metres per second, the metric base unit for flow. Your input is first converted to m³/s, then divided into each target unit, so the whole set stays consistent. This lets you move between the metric litres and cubic metres used on pumps and the US gallons per minute quoted on plumbing and irrigation gear, plus cubic feet per minute common for air handling and ventilation.

The gallons here are US gallons, which differ from imperial gallons, so match the unit to your source when a spec is quoted in gallons. Flow rate matters for pumps, HVAC, water systems, and process engineering, where a datasheet in one unit needs checking against a requirement in another. Very small and very large numbers are shown in scientific notation so results stay readable, and you control the number of decimal places.

Negative amounts are rejected and non-numeric input shows a short hint instead of a broken result. For related conversions, try the volume converter, the speed converter, or the everyday unit converter.

Frequently asked questions

How do I convert litres per minute to gallons per minute?
Divide litres per minute by about 3.785 to get US gallons per minute. This tool does it automatically and shows every other flow unit at the same time.
Are these US or imperial gallons?
The gallon units here are US gallons. Imperial gallons are about 20 percent larger, so if your source uses imperial gallons the numbers will differ.
What is CFM used for?
Cubic feet per minute, or CFM, is a common flow unit for airflow in fans, ventilation, and HVAC. This converter includes it alongside the metric and gallon units.
Can I convert negative flow values?
No. Flow rate here is treated as a magnitude, so negative inputs are rejected with a short hint. Enter zero or a positive number.
Is my input sent anywhere?
No. Every conversion happens on your device as you type. Nothing you enter is uploaded, logged, or stored.
