Why use this tool
One date, several readouts

Weekdays-only counting
Switch to counting only Monday to Friday to get the number of working days that have passed since a start date.
Handles today and future dates
A date that is today reads as zero, and a date that has not happened yet shows a clear note with how many days remain.
Optional hours elapsed
Add a time of day alongside the date to see an exact hours-elapsed figure, not just whole days.
One-click copy
Copy summary turns the elapsed total into a short line of plain text, ready for a note, an email, or a chat.

The date you enter is counted in your browser against your device clock, and nothing is uploaded.
About this tool
This tool counts how many days have passed since a date you choose and shows the answer several ways at once: total days, weekdays elapsed, weeks, a weeks-and-days split, approximate months, and approximate years. Add an optional time of day and it also reports the hours elapsed since that exact moment. The count is measured against the current time, read after the page loads, so the number is always current rather than baked in when the page was built.
The Count only weekdays option changes the headline to working days, counting just Monday through Friday and skipping every weekend, which is the figure you want when tracking time since a start date at a job, a project kickoff, or a treatment date. Everyday uses include finding how long ago a birthday, an anniversary, a purchase, an injury, or a launch was. A date that falls on today reads as zero rather than an error, and a date that has not happened yet shows a plain not-yet note along with how many days remain until it.
Because the whole count runs in your browser, the date you enter is never uploaded or stored. To measure the span between two fixed dates rather than counting up from a past date, use the date difference calculator; to count down to a future date instead, use the days until date calculator; and to work out an exact age from a birthdate, use the age calculator.
Frequently asked questions
- How is the number of days since a date worked out?
- The tool compares the date you enter with today and counts the whole calendar days between them, then also expresses that as weeks, months, and years elapsed. If you add a time, it additionally shows the hours elapsed since that exact moment.
- What does "count only weekdays" do?
- It switches the headline to working days, counting only Monday to Friday and skipping every Saturday and Sunday. This gives the number of working days that have passed since the date rather than the total calendar days.
- What happens if I pick today or a future date?
- A date that is today reads as zero days. A date that has not happened yet shows a clear note saying so, along with how many days remain until it, rather than a negative number or an error.
- Does the count update as time passes?
- Yes. The total is measured against the live current time and refreshes on its own, so the number stays accurate while the tab is open.
- Is the date I enter kept private?
- Yes. The calculation runs entirely in your browser against your device clock. The date and time you enter are never uploaded, stored, or logged.
